Working life has the potential to be an incredibly rewarding and fulfilling experience where individuals can achieve personal and professional growth, have the opportunity to contribute in a meaningful and worthwhile way and feel valued for the work that they do.
However, for some people, work can be at times a painful, frustrating and limiting experience regardless of whether you're in your own business or working for someone else. People describe work as boring, even mind numbing, and for many it is considered to be a cause of their poor health, stress, anxiety and depression.
On the other hand, there are many who do enjoy their working life, and yet even in the most fulfilling of careers there will be times when work is difficult and challenging, possibly frustrating and when you're not getting the results or having the experience you want to have. There is a feeling of being stuck and that there is more to give, more that is possible.
The challenge that we all have in common is that we operate in an increasingly competitive and complex workplace. Today’s working environment requires us to adapt to rapid technological and social change, and such change demands ever greater skills of those that work within it.
This requires investment in personal and professional development so that we have the flexibility and internal strength and understanding to adapt, foresee and embrace these changes and enjoy the rewards to be gained from becoming our professional best.
