Coaching Explained

What is Coaching?
Coaching is an approach to personal and professional development that utilises a range of tools and techniques to enable you to understand who you are and to make the changes you want to make in your life. Unlike counselling, coaching is focused on the present and the future but using events and experiences of the past to learn from and move forward.

A coach is there to ask you the right questions to help you to formulate plans, make decisions, discover your resources and hold you to account in all that you want to achieve.

A coach will teach, through example, suggestion and application, specific, proven tools and techniques that enable you to make positive and lasting change in all areas of their life. When you are stuck we will do whatever it takes to get you moving again in a caring, supportive and inspiring environment.

A coach encourages you to explore and understand the science of the mind in addition to working on the day to day detail of your plans and your goals.

A coach will absolutely tell you the truth about where you are strong and where you underestimate yourself and we will challenge you to be the very best you can be. We will hold the biggest and best image of you and your goals, even when you cannot hold it yet for yourself.

A coach can work with any area of your life but Q Coaching chooses to work with people who are serious about developing their personal and professional skills, who want to develop their career or their professional performance in their current role, develop their businesses or who are wanting to develop a particular skill to support them in their work.

Coaching is about creating momentum, identifying goals and those things you would love to be, do and have, removing obstacles, generating options, identifying and developing resources, planning actions and taking action.

By highlighting and recognising success and by learning from mistakes, the coaching process brings about new levels of personal and professional effectiveness. Through a series of specifically designed sessions the Client works with the Coach to achieve their goals. The Coach supports the Client to identify their various strengths and talents and to recognise their true potential and value.

This is the place that you visit, regularly and consistently; where you learn, consolidate, integrate and find your energy, your focus and your inspiration again and push on.

Why Coaching?

Coaching is being utilised more and more by individuals and companies who recognise that there are times when traditional training methods do not bring about the development and results that are desired. Coaching focuses on the individual and the work is therefore specifically tailored to achieve the results that are desired by the individual or indeed the company.

Coaching gets results and can get results quickly. By focusing attention and effort on your challenges and goals and by being coached through these you get what you are after. You get what you focus on.

It is 100% about you, the client. In the coaching environment there is a uniquely high level attention on you throughout the session from someone who is there only to support and challenge, act as a sounding board, listen and offer information that will give you a new or different perspective. The Coach is as objective as a person can be in that their only purpose is to work with you to get the results you want.

This attention and focus on the issues and challenges at hand generates an understanding that causes positive shifts in behaviour and thinking.

A great Coach has at their disposal a series of tools, techniques and questions which are used to bring about a fresh perspective on the challenges facing you. By expanding your perspective in this way you are able to generate solutions and resources for yourself. Because the solutions are self-generated, your willingness and desire to accept and act on these solutions is infinitely greater than it would be had they come from someone else.
